Funding & Term Dates
- At Smiley Stars Nursery, we offer both 38-week term-time and 50-week nursery placements.
- Our 38-week term-time schedule follows the Glasgow City Council timetable, with exact dates confirmed by the council each year. We will keep parents updated as soon as these are available. Please note that any days outside the council’s term-time schedule are not funded, and standard nursery fees will apply if your child attends during these weeks.
- For families requiring care beyond term time, we also provide a 50-week placement, typically running from the last week of July and first week of August. The first and last weeks of this schedule are not funded, and standard nursery fees will apply if your child attends during this time.
Nursery Closures
We have closures on:
- Two in-service days (dates to be confirmed)
- Christmas Break – Closing at 4 PM on Christmas Eve (or the last Friday before Christmas) and reopening around January 4th (exact dates to be confirmed)
Funding Options
Term-Time Funded Placements (38 Weeks)
For children attending on a term-time basis, we offer 30 funded hours per week, which can be used flexibly across:
✔ Up to 6 sessions (5 hours each) – this can be arranged in one of these combinations:
- 4 sessions (5 hours each) + 1 full day (10 hours each), or
- 3 full days (10 hours each), or
- 2 sessions (5 hours each) + 2 full day (10 hours each)
50-Week Funded Placements
For children attending year-round, we offer 22 hours and 48 minutes of funded care per week, which can be used flexibly across:
✔ Up to 5 sessions (5 hours each, 4 sessions fully funded and 1 partially funded session) – this can be arranged in one of these combinations:
- 2 funded full days (10 hours each) + 1 partially funded session (2 hours & 48 minutes funded and 2 hours & 12 minutes privately paid)
- 1 funded full day (10 hours) + 2 funded sessions (5 hours each) + 1 partially funded session (2 hours & 48 minutes funded and 2 hours & 12 minutes privately paid)
- 4 funded sessions (5 hours each) + 1 partially funded session (2 hours & 48 minutes funded and 2 hours & 12 minutes privately paid)
Meal Information
- AM Funded Sessions include breakfast and lunch.
- PM Funded Sessions include Snack and a dinner (availability may vary by nursery—please check with us).
- Full Days include breakfast, lunch, and a snack. Dinner is available for an additional fee, subject to availability at your nursery, please check with us.
Additional Information
- If your child requires nappies, you can provide your own or opt for our supply at an additional cost. (We provide shop-bought nappies up to size 6+.)

Fees & Additional Sessions
At Smiley Stars Nursery, children can attend using funded sessions only, with no obligation to purchase additional hours. Funded sessions are free at the point of entry, and families may choose to make a voluntary Resources (Toy) Fund contribution per session. Full details are provided below, and our management team is always here to answer any questions.

Early Drop-Off OptionWe offer an Early Drop-Off from 7:30 AM for an additional fee (availability varies by nursery). Please check with us for details.
Additional Paid Sessions
If you choose to purchase extra paid sessions, the following conditions apply:
Deposit – A refundable deposit is required at registration, provided that:

Administration Fee – A non-refundable administration fee is required as part of registration.

- All fees are up to date
- You provide at least one month’s notice before leaving
The deposit is non-refundable if:
- You cancel the place
- A place is booked but not taken on the agreed start date without six weeks’ notice
- The start date is delayed by more than two weeks (requiring re-registration, subject to availability)
- Fees remain outstanding upon leaving
- The required one-month notice period is not given

Voluntary Resources (Toy) Fund
Although funded hours are free at the point of entry, families are welcome to support our nursery through an optional Resources (Toy) Fund.
This voluntary contribution helps enhance funded sessions with additional materials, celebration activities, and enriching experiences that go beyond the basic funded entitlement.
Participation is entirely voluntary, and families can opt out at any time without affecting their funded place.
Although funded hours are free at the point of entry, families are welcome to support our nursery through an optional Resources (Toy) Fund.
This voluntary contribution helps enhance funded sessions with additional materials, celebration activities, and enriching experiences that go beyond the basic funded entitlement.
Participation is entirely voluntary, and families can opt out at any time without affecting their funded place.
Withdrawing from Nursery
If you wish to withdraw from your booked funded sessions, we require 1 month notice.
